Something to do with a 1 year old not far from M4?

We're going to London (from Wales) to a party next weekend. Quite fancy using it as an opportunity to take DS somewhere on the way.
Anyone got any ideas of where would be good? He's only 14 months, but walking confidently etc. Expect that Legoland would be heaving on a Saturday and not sure it's worth the cost for such a small child?
Anywhere else? Longleat not an option as I don't want the pesky monkeys wrecking my car!

Didcot Railway Centre?

The following link on zoos/ animal parks is worth a look:

Depending on which way you are entering London, Beale Park is not far from Reading, whilst Paradise Park is to the north of the M25.0 -

Living Rainforest is good, small but fun for a little one.

About 10 mins drive off of M4, J13 (Newbury). There are some nice looking village pubs on the drive if you fancy lunch too.0 -
To Mildred 1978-
If you want to go to Longleat, you can bypass the enclosure with the pesky monkeys! I did this, as the last time I went through a similar enclosure in West Midlands, those monkeys took anything that wasn't welded on tightly! Just so you know! You can even spread your visit over 2 days, doing certain things on one day (they just punch the items you have done on your ticket). This can be quite cost effective too! You can use Tesco Clubcard vouchers for Longleat, but if you are going next weekend, it might be too late to get them- might be worth saving it for another day as its £23 for adults, though I think free for under 3's (but I'd need to check). Living Rain forest is pretty good- went there a few years ago. On the website it says £9.50 for adults and free for under 2's. Hope you have a good time!0 -

Thanks. I think he's a bit young for Longleat at the moment to be honest.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

Bekonscot Model Village. We first took our son when he was 2 and he loved the model trains running around the site.

He's only just 14 months, so this may be another one for later (we've friends in the Chalfonts so could go when visiting them). Thanks.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

There is the tropical zoo, don't know if it's out of your way though. Plus there is a voucher on KGB Deals for £100
