Swift cover - do they need copy of paper licence when signing up?
I have today sent off my paper licence to DVLA to be updated due to some old points which can be removed. So I am waiting for them to process that and return it.
This prompted me into think about getting some quotes for my insurance which is due for renewal next week. I noticed Swift cover and they are offering me a considerable saving on my current policy (mainly due to fitting my 5 years no claims I think).
My question is, if I take out a new policy with Swift - do they (and if they do, when?) require a copy of my paper licence to be sent to them before the policy can start? I can't remember if I did this with my current insurer 5 years ago or not.
I'm just wondering if not being in possession of the paper part is going to hold things up.
Or will they only need that if I were to make a claim?

I think they'll want to see it if you claim, but not otherwise.
I've been insured with them and I don't remember sending my licence, all they wanted was proof of no claims.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thanks. That seems logical and I couldn't find anything in their FAQ about it, except as you say NCD proof. Which can handily be scanned and uploaded :-)0

Nopes, they don't ask to see the paper part of your licence (or the card part either) unless you have an accident...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Like Meepster said.. no they don't. You just scan in your NCD and email it to them0

In recent years, I'd agree with all the above posters.
But beware, one company many years ago (mid 1990s) sent me a letter just after I'd taken out a policy with them, saying that I "have not yet sent a copy of my driving licence." I sent it, along with a letter in a slightly miffed tone that they had never requested it.0
