Wirelss Printer Problem - Please help!

Hi

I had problems with my wireless broadband yesterday and after an hour on the phone to sky it appeared all was fixed. However, I now find that my wireless printer is refusing to acknowledge the router - it's an HP F4500 and the wireless light is flashing as tho it is trying to find the connection but can't. When I was on the phone to sky yesterday, we did it all on my laptap as they wanted me to keep plugging it in to the router with the wired connection which I can't do via the desktop cos it is too far away (which is why I have wireless!). We changed some settings and renamed the router and gave it a new WEP code. Since yesterday although my desktop is connected fine, my laptop refuses to connect and now the printer! The printer is the main problem as I am a student and am need to do a lot of printing this week!

Can anyone help? Please :) (I have done the turn it off an on again thing - I wonder if I need to unistall it and reinstall it - if I can find the software :o) Thanks in advance

I would say best of re-installing it, I have never used a wireless printer but is there any option on there to find a wireless network? Or do you just choose one when you install the printer?

If it's the latter then re-install it as you will need to choose the new SSID you have set up and enter the new WEP key.

Thanks, yes I thought that would probably be the best option - now just need to find the flipping disc!!

You renamed the routed and changed the WEP code. How was the printer originally set up to print ? Did you connect it via USB first to program the original settings in to it ? If so, you'll have to do this again...

I think that when I installed it did like a search to find available wireless networks and I clicked on mine, entered wep/wap code and that was it - I can't find an option now to find new wireless networks, which is why i think i need to uninstall and reinstall but still looking for the disc with the software on it..
  • I don't suppose you know if I can re-install this without the CD - can I download the software?

^^^ yes you can, from the HP site. It'll probably be more up-to-date than on your disk as well ;)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
