Hi
Just been tidying up and found lots of receipts.
How long should we keep receipts for?
is there a minimum amount for which receipts should be kept and throw out those under?

There is no minimum at all but if you are ever to want to claim something against one of the retailers in question then you will need to provide proof of purchase. If you ever have an insurance claim then you must provide proof of ownership. Both of these are easiest done with receipts.
Personally I keep supermarket receipts as far as the bin by the door. For small items like clothes etc until the first couple of washes/ until I accidentally wash them as I forget they are in my pocket. For expensive items like TVs for as long as I keep the item.
If you are self employed the answer to this is obviously different for anything business relatedAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

I agree with Astaroth.
It depends what the item is.
If it's clothing then usually around 6 months because one you've worn something a few times and washed it then you aren't going to be able to take it back and any faults would be put down to wear (exclusions would be expensive items like an expensive waterproof coat).
For small cheap electrical items then around 12 months because that's usually when the warranty runs out.
For expensive personal items (jewelry, watches, cameras) or large electronic items (TV, computer washing machine) then I keep the receipts as lojng as I keep the item both for claiming a repair but also for insurance in case items are stolen.
So it has to depend on the item and what warranty/guarantee comes with it.0
