pcworld damaged my laptop

hi all, hope someone can give me some advice
i sent my overheating laptop in for repair to knowhow(more like knowNOTHING) and when it returned it was smashed ie hinge snapped off stickers that stop it from banging closed all missing, screen surrouns hanging off and loads of scratches where they had forced it apart with a screwdriver, obviosuly i was appaled and refused to accept it back in the store , they wasnt really having none of it, so i made a BIG noise, store manager came running over, said its atrocious repair and damage, and gave me a brand new low spec laptop off the shelf as a repalcement for a loan machine ( i told you i made a big noise) however now pcworld have had over 2 weeks to repair it and still not obtianed the various pices required to fix this mess,
what legal rights do i have to to demand a new laptop from them, or are they allowed to keep me waiting, they keep saying manufacturs guarantee but im at loggerheads to say it was their imcompetence that damaged it not a faulty item, i waNT a replacment from them not packard bell , the laptop was bought in feb 11 , so is not that old
regards
anthony

Well First off the SoGA say that it can't cause significant inconvenience (and I'm not going to argue with people, but a laptop is a luxury item, and being without it isn't a significant inconvenience) but that is moot as you have a loaner so you can't claim that, it also states that it must be done in a reasonable timeframe, now that is a very grey area of law and can be argued till the cows come home.
Now onto what is set in stone, Pcworld / Knowhow have very defined polices to avoid the ambiguity that the law seems to love. If the machine takes over 28 days to repair (and isn't on it's way back) you are entitled to walk into the store and choose a replacement one (to the value of what you paid) (if it's over a year and you have Whatever happens, that timeframe drops to 21 days and it's vouchers to the value of what your old one is spec for spec, and Whatever Happens Premier is 10 days).
I suppose the point of damage really is moot, while you would never know, any repair company could play curling with the laptops in the warehouses and so long as they repaired the system you'd never know the difference, essentially just because you saw the damage doesn't give you any additional rights or privileges.0
