Surprising consumer of electricity

I have just discovered a surprising consumer of 5 kWh of electricity per day in my house.


The surprising consumer?

My wife.

She has been away for the past 3 days and in that time electricity consumption has dropped from 12 kWh per day to 7 kWh per day.

Pity she is coming back tomorrow.:rotfl:

    Oven and bath probably!

    Oven and bath probably!

    Oven is gas and hot water is heated by gas.

    Washing machine, vacuum and no TV as I watch it on my computer as I have a freesat card.

    Must be the downstairs lights, but they are energy saving lamps.

    That still doesn't account for 5 kWh though.

    So that's what she does...washes the clothes, vacuums the floors and probably a spot of ironing as well. Maybe uses a hair dryer or hair straighteners. Dishwasher?

    Spends forever in the shower. Then switches the TV on upstairs, goes downstairs, switches the TV there on and goes into the kitchen to bake a cake in the electric oven while listening to the stereo. Just my experience....:)

    i've knowone to blame i live on my own :mad:

    but on the bright side i only use 4kwh per day :j
    my DD has just been reduced to £5 per month :rotfl:

    I'm now going to measure how much my hair dryer uses after reading the OP's post!
    If your wife has a powerful hair dryer and it takes a while to dry her hair, that might account for a chunk of the consumption!
    From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!
