Offer accepted

Found a lovely house, offer has been accepted and the agent is pulling it from the market. Had to pay full wack for it, but nevermind.

Fingers crossed now, they're asking for solictor details and I'm looking forward to a stress free exchange and move

pfffff...

It could take a couple of months to get in to new property, its as very slow agonising time particularly at the 11th hour as we are.

Keep us up to speed in the large this thread below as they are a few of us in buying/selling house

I've just been soliciting for a solicitor and have come to see the upfront costs of a local solicitor recommended by my mothers friend as being quite cheap - around £1,100 (pretty much covering everything)

Obviously I'm not so naive to think I won't have any more costs... but I'm crossing my fingers and taking the plunge!

  • I'm very new to this so please excuse me if i'm doing it wrong!

My partner and i have recently had an offer accepted on a new build, on an estate thats not local to us. The builder wants a £1000 deposit now and then a further 10% in about 6 weeks before completion. In the meantime my solicitor has contacted their solicitor and had no paperwork back about the property. My solicitor seems to think that there may be something suspicious with the company and not to pay them a penny until we see the deeds to the property. BUT the builder won't release the deeds until the deposit is paid - nightmare!

I know our solicitor is there to protect us but not too sure if he's being a little too cautious..... we know of someone else who has bought a house on the site some time ago and they didn't have any problems.

There is no more building work going on there at the moment and they have properties there which have been ready for 12 months and not been sold, should this be alarm bells ringing? i don't know.

The last thing we want to do is get involved if their about to go bankrupt!

Any advice would be very much appreciated
