Not sure if this will help you but I was on the Thomson Spirit last year, first time on a cruise for us. The cabin was clean and comfortable and the maid cleaned it every day. Size wise the room was OK for 2 adults, our cabin was L shaped. The decor dated it to around 1970's. Food was good, three places to eat, a informal serve yourself, a waiter service plus another resturant for a supplement, never ate in their as it was always booked. Drinks on board were same price as UK but think the spirits used in cocktails etc were "local", I found I drink 3/4 cocktails and had no affect. Entertainment was not to our taste, some of the shows were OK plus other quizzes and competition things on a night would keep us amused. I think for what we paid for the trip it was fair enough. Our ship was going to be refurbished at the end of the year so perhaps the Destiny might be more modern. If you want to know anything else just ask.

Isn't a good idea to ask before booking?
Also people try and find a cheaper deal after booking a hol
Reminds me of something about shutting a gate and a horse :rotfl:You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing" Large print giveth - small print taketh away. "0 -
Yes it would of been a good idea. I had two choices and now I think I'm just reasuring myself that I've chosen the better one of the two!0

Thankyou for your reply. I now that they have facilities for kids but were there that many on the cruise you went on?0 -
Hi, there were not many kids on board, about 12 at most. We did most of the trips so were not onboard much during the day. They did seem to have a play zone for kids but not sure what that had.

Thanks. As the holiday is just for me and my mum we won't have any kids with us and were hoping for a holiday where there were few/none. Sometimes you just need a break from them!0

On the Spirit there are weeks where there are no children but we never really noticed they were around. We thought the trips were good, well organised and planned, however, you can always just get off the boat and wander round your port of call. They put a newsletter through your cabin every night to tell you what is happening the next day. Book your trips on your first day as the most popular ones fill up quickly. There is usually quite a few things going on onboard if you are not getting off ie Salsa dancing, cocktail mixing, wine tasting. The staff are 1st class and the resturant staff remembered our names. Quite incredible considering how many people were onboard. I am sure you will have a wonderful time and I hope the sun shines for you.

We have been on a cruise on the Spirit and it was excellent value for money. The QE2 it ain't, but the food is good, the service is fine, and the shows and entertainment are well presented.
