Oh, whilst we are on the subject of leggings, this is a plea -
Don't buy and wear the beige knitted leggings from Primark as your only item of clothing on your lower body - EVER
They've been in the shops for roughly a fortnight. People look completely naked from a distance in them, the knitted gusset looks like a camel toe and they sag down to about 3 inches below the crotch after about 3 wears, so the camel toe look turns into what looks like either a scrotum or the flap women who have caesarian sections get hanging over their scar. Oh, and the rise is too short, so they usually have their backside hanging out as well.
Trust me, you all look skanky as hell in them. Use them as tights and don't try and convince yourself that because you have a perfect figure, you look in any way, shape or form good. They take your perfect figure and make you look like the rest of us.
Jojo that had me in hysterics, my very fashionable neighbour had a pair on the other day when I was chatting to her, will keep a close eye when she wears them again!!0 -
Are you speaking from personal experience here, JoJo? :rotfl:Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

Thanks for all your advice, I'm really rubbish at fashion, usually in wellies and a Barbour, before Barbours became fashionable! Not sure about boots with the top because it's quite long, DH says it looks like a dress and could wear it with just black tights.
These are the shoes that I've seen that DH says he'll buy me if I want them, I think they would go?

High heels can look fine with leggings as long as they are high! But wedges with leggings tend to look awful, especially if in the same colour and not being boots.I'm not sure why but I think it's a balance thing,it just looks bizarre.
If you want to wear heels go from some proper heels in a fab colour to go with the topIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

It's more the experience of seeing men look up in shock at what appears to be a naked woman walking past -
and then looking away in horror with an 'ewwwww' and shuddering,
and women just wincing and looking away so as to not upset the wearer's feelings.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Makes them a lot warmer, no chance of laddering and you feel slightly more dressed than a sheer pair of tights.

I desperately want the grey cable knit ones from h&m..in my head they'd look perfect with a belted longline shirt, cute knit over the top and some nice boots but I have a feeling they'll be the most unflattering things to put on your legs ever!If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
while we are on this topic, is it only me that thinks pumps look best with bare feet and its WAy to cold for that?! You cant exactly team them with socks and tights under leggings? Not sure about that.Norn Iron Club member 4730

I think they look fine with opaques and a skirt or opaque knee-highs under jeans. Very preppy.0 -

Agree with this. It's personal preference, but I'd wear flat shoes, including ballet pumps, or boots with leggings. You can get very pretty flat pumps, there's no need for them to look overly casual. Boden and Russell & Bromley have some lovely flat shoes, albeit at a very high price!0 -

Add a short skirt and you should look OK - as long as you remember the days of woolly tights without lycra and how you end up walking like an incontinent Pingu for fear of them dropping to your knees once they reached the mid point of your inner thigh. I suggest safety pins to attach them to your skirt waistband.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Same as this. Boots with a heel and leggings are fine but I am not keen on shoes or sandals (with heels) and leggings. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
