Hi everyone,

My first post on this (excellent) site, so be gentle!

Have a question regarding Diners Club Credit Card (yes, credit, not a charge card)...

My employer has suggested I use Diners Credit (I travel a lot with work and so airport lounge access and stuff is complimentary with it) and so I applied - it arrived today. However, not really sure where this card is accepted. I know most hotels, airlines etc accept it, but what about things like supermarkets, petrol stations and other day to day expenses? Also, what is the general feeling about this card? After one year, they charge 15 quid for servicing it, not sure whether it's worth it.

In the UK Diners Club only do charge cards. They do not do credit cards.

"What is the difference between a charge card and a credit card?

Diners Club is a charge card not credit card. This means that there are no established credit limits, nor annual percentage rates (APR) applied, as the balance must be paid in full each month."

Not that many places take Diners Club in the UK.

They actually have what's known as a companion card (internally known as a revolver ) which is effectively a credit card - as the name implies it's a companion to a charge card you may also be carrying.

Not that it's acceptance is any different to the charge card at all!!
