Hi
I advice anyone who is unaware of car ins companies and other ins companies when it comes to renewal time. If you do not want to renew your ins with currant company cancel any set up payment method after last payment given. If you dont do this or tell them you dont want to renew they will take your money and carry on! It seems to be most ins company policies to have very small print on the back saying they will continue to carry on with your insurance unless you cancel it year in year out!
Hope this helps someone.

Thats a bit extreme and actually may not make any difference as a continuous payment authority is transferable on to the new card (assuming same provider)If you dont do this or tell them you dont want to renew they will take your money and carry on!
Just as they say they will in the renewal letter.
The best advice is for people to read their renewal letter when they get it. The section on what to do next if you do or do not wish to renew couldnt be clearer. Just follow the instructions.
Unfortunately, too many people seem not to read the renewal letter and make assumptions about what happens next and those assumptions are often wrong.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Cancellation of the agreed payment method is not a suitable way to cancel a contract.
Motor insurance is normally an annual policy and many policies will auto-renew unless you inform them otherwise.
Do not use the word "CANCEL" when you do not want to renew.
If you are not happy with the renewal quote documents, then contact the insurer and negotiate, if still not happy, inform them that you will not want to renew and you will allow the policy to lapse at the end of it's term, request proof of NCD if not already received. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. There is no way to cancel continous card authority unilaterally.
You can cancel direct debits (you still might have a legal contract and owe the money).
Shutting a card down does not cancel a CCA.
There are two solutions. Either buy insurance that doens't auto-renew OR put a note in your diary.
For anyone that has MOTs o, goess to the dentist or remembers birthdays (that's pretty much everyone) this shouldn't be an issue.
I put the date in a month in advance as most quotes are valid for 30 days and it gives me time to shop around.0
