IOMEGA Caddy - new 3TB HDDs but only sees 800gb?

hi
i have an iomega mdhd15t-u2 1.5tb external caddy
i took out the old 750gb hdds out of it and put in new 1.5 tb ones - so its now 3tb
both an xp pc and mac i put it in only sees it as 800gb
what gives? havent formatted it yet

update
if you just have one hdd in there it shows '1.5tb' (ie the total capacity of the one hdd in there) as soon as you connect the second disk it reverts to '800gb' - ???0 -
Though I have no idea why, it may be that your particular caddy doesn't support disks above a certain size. There is mention in the specs of many such caddies, but no explanation given.0

very interesting - mine is 2x 1.5 tb drives but the enclosure effectively 'makes it' a 3tb one - i wonder if this is the problem...? thanks v v much anthonis0

If the "iomega mdhd15t-u2 1.5tb external caddy" is implementing RAID-0 to effectively stick one disk after the other, then Anthonis' suggestion is probably correct.
3TB - 800 GB ~= 2.2 TB, the maximum addressable space without bodges in XP...0
