Car warrenty refund problem

Hello, I wonder if you could offer me some advice.
I bought a 2nd hand car on the 14th September 2011 for £11000. The car dealer advised me that the vehicle came with a 3 month warranty; apparently this is something that they are required to do in-line with FSA regulations. He then went on to try and sell me an extended warranty for 12months at a cost of £500. I was hesitant, but he assured me that there was a 14 day cooling off period in which time I could cancel and get a full refund. This information was backed-up within the small print within the terms and conditions.
I purchased the extended warranty in the knowledge that I could reconsider at my leisure. I did reconsider and came to the conclusion that this insurance didn’t really fit my needs. I subsequently carried out the following:
· 21st September returned all documentation via recorded delivery as requested, with a covering letter.
· 22nd September had confirmation via Royal mail website that the letter was received
· 30th September, called for an update. They were going to look into it and call me back. They didn’t.
· 7th October, called for an update. They were going to look into it and call me back. They didn’t.
· 14th October, called for an update. They informed me that the full payment was going to be refunded that day. It wasn’t.
· 21st October, called for an update. They were going to get the sales manger to call me back the following morning he didn’t.
I have now totally lost confidence in the company in question and wonder if you could advise me of my rights regarding this matter.
Many thanks
