I'd not only ban him but chuck him in jail for a few months to wake him up to the fact that he is a menace on the roads.
As for ever driving again, I think that would be at least 5 years away and perhaps never.
He is too stupid to learn, the continual increase in points shows that plain and simple.0 -

They should kick out all the real criminals to make way for the motorists.
Motorists already get harshly punished for minor traffic offences whilst thieves, thugs and vandals get a token fine which they don't even pay and a pointless ticking off. It's the logical next step.0 -
He'll have to prove exceptional hardship should he be banned. Work alone is not usually enough, he'd need sole dependents or to be carer for someone with disability for example.
He should expect to be banned for 12 months. He will need a solicitor to put forwards the best mitigation possible to reduce the fine and duration of the ban.
The magistrate may buy the line that he is due another child and must provide, or he may feel that someone in that position with 9 points should have been more careful from the outset...
Is it not 6 months. 3 months has been done too.0 -
He does not NEED a car to do a 14-mile journey to work. If he needed his car that much he wouldn't have been so stupid as to do 43 in a 30 with 9 points on his licence.
14 miles is a long cycle commute but can be done, even if it's only two or three days a week. I manage 10 miles each way and I'm nearly 50 - sounds like he's significantly younger - this might even be the making of him.
And I have had points for speeding on my licence - I just saw sense when I got to 6 points!Long-haul Supporters DFW 120

To be honest if he's stupid enough to drive at 43 in a 30 limit while knowing he has 9 points in his licence he is a buffoon who deserves to be banned, and I hope he is. A period of paying for taxis to and from work may make him reconsider his driving style.
Although I don't agree with the speeding at all, to be fair I hardly see anyone doing less than 40 in a 30 now on the roads.
the only way to combat this is avg speed cameras on every 30 limit - which we may see before too long as the price of tech is hitting rock bottom now.0 -
I don't know the exact circumstances, but I do know he was driving his wife's car - something he doesn't do very often.
and? does it not have a speedo? At that speed it would have been registering 50mph if not more I'd think.
Given he has failed to learn his lesson and could well have killed someone if he'd hit them a bit of time and exercise over winter might make him re-think things.
He doesn't want tlive with a death on his conscience just because he wanted to save a few seconds.
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
I've been caught speeding on more than one occasion. It's an "occupational hazard" of liking to drive fast.
However, with a family and 9 points, he should be driving like Miss Daisy IMHO..0
