Samsung Galaxy Tab repair - 8 weeks!!!

My son purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab from Bestbuy in April. August Bank Holiday Sunday it was returned to them because it would not turn on. We were told it would be back with us two weeks later. It had to be returned to Samsung for repair.
Eight weeks later there is no sign of it returning. Numerous phone calls and a couple of emails resulted in me being told Bestbuy will find out what is happening and get back to us. So far they have never phoned back. I was emailed to say it would be back with us by 14th October. Just as well I didn't hold my breath!!!
What is a 'reasonable' time to wait for an item to be repaired and returned, allowing for non-working days such as weekends.
Is 8 weeks too long? What can we do.

8 weeks is way too long. Demand the repaired unit back in 1 week else they must provide a replacement or refund. Do this in writing and send it recorded delivery. (Make sure you keep a copy of all correspondence).0
