gointo branch and they will check there and then, then a form will be sent off for you. As others have said inform your utility company, although they may now install pre-pays to protect them
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Such a pity you don't have a Co-op or Britannia branch near enough that you could have gone in with your ID for them to verify direct. Or even better, that they won't accept a Post Office verified ID - like with Passport applications.

I truly hope they get it sorted this time.

  • I went BR 2 weeks ago. I went to Co-Op on the same day as going Br and registered for a new account. 1 week later all was set up, got my card, online access. Can you not go in to Co-Op Bank itself?

Quicker than waiting another few weeks
  • I agree, think it might be better to have a quick trip to the big smoke and get it all verified and opened there and then.
Do you have a Britannia any closer, you can get everything verified by them too?
Good luck, i've found the Co-op fab, so stick with it.
Also you get more comfortable about taking calls and being brutally honest with people you are never going to meet, open the letters and phone the companies or send them to your OR.
We went BR in May and still get the odd letter / call, usually they claim they haven't had the paperwork, ummm, not a problem i say, i'll get the IP to send it all to you again :D.

I find it amazing that some people have managed to open an account so easily and without ID. I have contacted essential companies and have arranged to pay by card etc so for now I am ok. I will just wait patiently not worth my stress travelling to Newcastle with my 2 kids believe me.

Hopefully it will go through anytime soon. Too late anyway for me to change my wages to go into a new account as I need to inform them before the 5th. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks guys
