  • Shouldn't be too much of a new thing for him, he just pays the standing order into a different account if I understand your current setup correctly.

The benefit of this for you would be that if there wasn't enough being paid into the bills account, its both of your problems, not just yours.

He ended things between un on Friday night.....

Good thing I've already done so much to reduce my bills and now I don't have to worry about his debts.......(This may make it easier to finally get a proper DRO Hmmm....)

Going to have to get a lodger in ASAP though.....

  • Oh dear... sorry to hear that. Although, you are already looking at the positives so perhaps its for the best?

Is his name still on the lease and do you plan to get that sorted out asap?

Don't be left out of pocket by the breakup. I had a breakup when I was in debt that ended up costing me a fortune and adding to my debt.

Yes, his name is on the lease, only added him when the contract was re-newed in September, why he couldn't have got his head round his feelings back then and ended it is beyond me.

I had all this with my last long term ex.... In the bigger picture my Landlady has no issue with me having short term lodgers using the spare room as long as it's clear, I'm responsible should anything happen. It was that break-up that caused more than half my debt.

I think it is for the best, I was feeling a bit not happy with a few things as he's been very withdrawn over the last few months (now I know why) so, actually feels like a real fresh start, just not that easy is all.

Fortunately last week I managed to do about £100 worth of Ebay sales and finally got round to offering my Tarot Card readings online for payment, only like £3.00 for a three card reading but it's gained me nearly £30 in five days...... I'm keeping a record of how many I do should I need declare things in future.

  • Thankfully I have now also had my Co-Operative Cashminder account confirmed, so I now have a valid hidey-hole for spare cash and it's my parachute should Barclays decide that they want money from my existing account now that they have taken over my Egg debt........

Shame I earn too much now for housing benefit :(

I may consider changing to train not tube for getting to work, would save a bit more money but restricts flexability in getting to work if there are delays etc and I'd still need to spend additionally for bus fares (I don't drive, no car, all London Transport).

    Well....

Got a promotion and small pay rise :yay:

Only another £75p/m take home but every little helps.

I however now owe my Aunt £1k.... The rent bounced twice after I stopped getting rent from my ex and before I got my new lodger... Xmas pay early and split with payment for Jury Duty so, I was playing catch up :( She's being very understanding about it all though, it's not like I did something wrong, just messed up circumstances at the worst time of the year.

Looks like Barclaycard (where they took over from Egg) have tried to take my DD on a different date, so surprise surprise, it didn't go through.

I've been getting calls from them every day for the last fortnight... I ignore them, they'll have to wait because I've contacted Pay Plan.

Sounds like I'm in a good position because I am already in self arranged DMP with the other three creditors, I rent, no car, no pension and nothing of any substantial value that could be sold.

    Here's to a more positive future :)

  • Got properly set up with Payplan in March, transferred to the Co-op account properly and included my Barclays overdraft in the total debt.

    I've paid back over £1k already :)

Have just moved into a smaller 1 bed flat, cheaper rent (though not by much as my old rent hadn't changed in five years so was absurdly cheap in comparison for a 2 bed!!), have ditched Sky, re-installed my Freeview box and signed up with my T-Mobile broadband at £18.50p/m inc line rental, I will get M&S vouchers and get Orange Wednesdays :D

I transfer to a new position with work in three weeks, no pay rise but I will be able to walk to work in less than 20mins which will save my £160 Monthly travelcard spend (will have to spend £20-30 p/m for buses at most for other trips etc).

But all in all, if my updated income and outgoings tally up suitably, where my total debt is now back under £15k, Payplan could set me onto a DRO rather than the 'informal' arrangement I have now.

    Hope you are all well!!

  • Also....

Payplan think it may be possible for their associate company to check for PPI on my card debts, three out of the four cards were taken out in Mar-Apr 2007 so, prime candidates, especially as I think they were all online applications too....

If there is any, I'd been keen to have the amounts removed from the overall debts instead of receiving the cash, the reduction in monthly repayment is a bigger help than a lump sum, no matter how much I'd like a holiday!!
