Stupid mistake!

I made a stupid mistake and ended up paying the HMRC to much for tax and NI this month. Is it ok to just pay less next month so that it will work out ok at the end of the year?
Still kicking myself for such a silly mistake

In what context was this? If it's as an employer and you've miscalculated the tax and NI due to HMRC from your employees, then yes, you can do this: the sum due is only calculated and 'balanced' at the end of the tax year.

Missing a payment will trigger alarm bells with them, you need to do a nil return if there's nothing due, but payments going up and down from month to month shouldn't cause concern.

Agree with Savy Sue. Just deduct what you overpaid this month from next months submission. As long as it all reconciles at the year end, all is well.
You had me at your proper use of "you're".
