Paying credit card bill in branch

Hello all,

This may sound like a stupid question, but if I go into Barclays with my Barclaycard credit card, can I pay this months payment without the statement?

I've lost the paper statement, and it has to be paid by Thursday, so this would be the easiest method for me.

Does it still count as a payment if no statement is presented?

Thank you for your time!!

  • The branch won't be able to tell you your balance (it's separate from B/Card) so if you want to pay in full, you'd need to know the full amount (or what your minimum payment is)

You'd also need all the relevant details - eg your card number, the sort code & account number that you're payments to go to (this is all on the tear off slip at the bottom of the statement that you'd usually use to pay in a bank etc).

Can you not ring B/card up and pay over the phone?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I know the exact minimum payment amount, and I have my Barclaycard details on the card itself, plus on a previous statement.

I don't have phone or internet banking unfortunately so I can only really pay in branch.

My main concern is whether it would count towards the monthly payment without the statement itself.

    Thanks again!

Why not just find a public phone booth and pay over the phone. Seems the easiest way to me.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Just go in with your Barclaycard and as you know the amount you want to pay the cashier can simply fill in a Bank Giro Credit. No problem at all :) Will still count as a payment without the original statement.

I wouldn't think you'd need telephone banking (which is normally associated with current accounts) to make a debit card payment over the phone to Barclaycard.
    My main concern...
If I had concerns such as yours I'd be ringing Barclaycard for clarification. Is there any particular reason why you haven't?

I don't have a debit card, I only have a cash card to withdraw money from the ATM.

I haven't rang Barclaycard as the last few times I've rang them its taken ages to speak to anyone, so I thought i'd ask on here. Sorry if its the wrong place to ask.

Thanks again for the replies :-)
  • Try to pay over the minimum - even by a couple £s.

Any minimum payments are recorded on your credit report (and don't look "attractive" to lenders) which may limit your options of getting credit in the future.

Also, this may seem a silly question as "lost" is "lost" - but if you think you may have lost the statement outside your home, please bear in mind that someone may now have your full address & card information.

if you goto a personual banker they can call up your card number, and make the payment for yo
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Use your previous statement's payment slip to pay the bill (unless you used it last month).
