No harm in pushing them especially if there are many of you but in all honesty its not the power company's fault if waste of spaces nick cabling. If they wont pay up then their is always home content insurance abet at a cost. Content insurance isnt that much for a home I think mine costs less than £200 per year and have always had it even when times were tough0

You can try suing for breach of contract. The electricity supply would appear to be dangerously overvoltage and outside the voltage range specified in the The Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002This is a system account and does not represent a real person. However the overvoltage was caused by a criminal act by (ATM) unknown persons and totally outwith the energy supplier's control.
That doesn't negate the supplier's legal obligations.
Anyway:The cable was stolen from an electrical substation in Rothbury Avenue at around 11am ....
A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “For safety reasons and to prevent any further damage, UK Power Networks temporarily interrupted supplies to 283 customers at 12.45pm.
The damage might have been less if there had been instant automatic disconnection on overvoltage. And it's a commercial decision between the costs of fitting that overvoltage protection vs the cost of meeting claims.
The suppliers will want to discourage false claims but are likely to be willing to settle claims they believe genuine quite quickly.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

In the letter it says that £200.00 is to be accepted as gesture of goodwill/inconveniance and if accepted will prevent any future claim made against them, or words to that effect.0
