Delaying making a claim

Options
Hello - I had a very minor prang with a cab three weeks ago , which both driver and I thought would be a small easy job to fix. I hoped not to include insurers. However, quotes from specialist cab firms are much much higher than expected and (probably understandably) the cab driver wants best job.

Trouble is, I didn't call insurance thinking we could settle it ourselves, I now have to call today. I am fully willing to be honest with them about dates and times but is there a chance they can turn down the claim because I didn't call them earlier?

They should be okay with it but and there is a but, it is in the terms and conditions of all insurance companies that you inform them of any 'incident' whether you are claiming on the insurance or not.
Unfairly, it still may affect your premium but that's life. They put them up because they say you are now more of a risk, they have got
us all in a catch 22 situation.

All you can do is give them a ring and find out.

(i dont understand why fixing a blumming taxi is more expensive than fixing a car tbh)

    Three weeks should be fine.

Why unfair? Sounds like the OP was at fault.

Youre right, of course, sorry, I had been reading a non fault incident a few minutes before and got the two posts muddled in my head. :o

    Ain't it obvious ?

Because they'll have it done at their mate's place and get a back hander.

I would be all over them for betterment as I'll bet a pound to a penny the cab has been in a number of scrapes before. If so, I'd want to see receipts from this expensive repairer and not dodgy ones either !
