How long did it take for your first win?

Options
Hope this is okay here, it doesn't fit the other boards.

Like the title says, just curious how long it took everyone to win their first prize. I've been at this now since the beginning of August and still haven't won anything. I know it's obviously not guaranteed or entitled to something but it still makes me a little wistful, you know?

It's a little :( to read of people winning multiple things in one day (!) or week and I'm still waiting on the first thing, I must be really unlucky and won't have anything to put in a signature at this rate:rotfl:

So how long did it take you, and what's your longest dry spell been?

I started comping the last week of June, I think my first win was middle of August. It is down to luck at the end of the day, but it is a fab hobby!

Don't get disheartened a win is probably just around the corner.

    Good luck xx
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Good luck in your new hobby but don't forget this is very much a numbers game. The regular winners are entering hundreds every day including daily comps and Facebook comps. The daily Anchor comp on Facebook for example gives 125 prizes every day and I think most MSE members taking part regularly have picked up at least a prize or two. I've had 4 this month, and the majority of my prizes are from daily and/or Facebook competitions.

    How many are you entering?
best wins to date-£500, 48 theme park tickets, Holiday to Italy+£250, Venus makeover package, laptops, pro-audio gear, £500 B&Q, £1500 Gucci bag, £1000 Maplin
  • I started on August 1st this year. Had my first win on September 15th. How many competitions you entering a day?The more you enter the more chances to win. Hope you win big soon!
    Good Luck Everyone!

    Hi,colliecrew
In all honesty 30 per day is a lot lower than lots on here. Some enter hundreds & still do not win.I do not make a note now but in 2010 I entered 20,000 plus comps, not including the multiples like ITV & TAB etc.I won about thirty times but nothing massive.
When I first started comping I entered about 100 per week but still won a holiday to New York though :-)

I find if you enter comps that need a little more effort than just filling in your details, such as tiebreakers etc you should stand more chance (if you try hard) as alot of people are put off. Alot of my wins have come from these. Do not give up though as it takes a while to process through with closing dates, and we all have periods when we do not win. Just enjoy the MSE community and a great hobby. x
