returning faulty item after 28 days

Hey all
I hope you can help. I bought a £40 jacket from River Island in september. I bought it specifically for interviews so I've worn it only 4 times. It's ripped in the sleeve but the seam allowances on both sleeves are so small I can see them starting to fray on both wrists. I'm really not happy with the quality and I want an exchange or refund. Do you think I'll get any luck given it's over a month since I bought it?

Yes, take it back. The 28 day limit stated on the receipt doesn't apply to faulty goods.
