If I remember, he played the same tactic with Fuerteventura. Cancelled all the flights. Eventually they caved in.

The other problem is that with Alicante, in the time it takes to walk through the airport to the car hire, we could have got the paperwork done and been 1/2 way up the road if we'd gone to Almeria . Record is leaving airport 15 minutes after touchdown - taxiing, disembarking, passport control, car hire paperwork & out :T

thats a fine record Gallygirl, have done it in 20 odd minutes from Almeria including being queue bumped by a local! I have a place further inland, about 30 mins from Mojacar and use Almeria and Alicante am keeping my eyes on the new one at Corvera.

As far as I know there are still negotiating.. AENA proposed last week to board half of their flights using the airbridge and the other half on foot.. which of course Ryanair found unacceptable as the reasons AENA is giving not to board on foot are "safety reasons", and therefore it's not possible half of the flights are safe and the other half are not!!

This winter there are still flights to Alicante from Gatwick, but not everyday as it happened last year and in summer. Let's hope they can solve this issue before next summer...
