How close can I put my cooker to my boiler?

Hi lovely forum people,

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I had a good search and couldn't find an answer.

Basically, we have quite a small Kitchen which we've expanded (knocked through a wall to create a larger room) and we want to re-fit the kitchen, but the layout is now quite awkward. The main thing being the location of the boiler. Re-positioning/replacing the boiler is costly and not an option.

We just want to know how close we can put cookers and fridges (and any other heat producing appliances) next to the boiler.

Does anyone know where we can get a list of criteria of what can and can't be done?

My girlfriend and I have spent ages trawling the net and can't find any proper advice. Aside from google key word searches, we've gone through the HSE website, gas safe and searched legislation. Still no answer. :(

Also, if anyone knows how much we could expect to pay to move a gas connection (only by a meter or two) in West London, that would be very helpful too! :)

Thanks.

no real problem with proximity of cooker etc to boiler - its more an access thing, there are some rules about proximity of gas hobs though:

A minimum of 750mm clearance is required above a gas hob to a cooker hood. The gap may be reduced to 727mm above a gas hob but the hood must be cleaned regularly to prevent a fire hazard. Wall units either side of a hood must be at least 366mm above. A minimum of 300mm clearance is required either side of the hob if installing next to a larder unit or flammable material.

Always refer to appliance manufacturers installation instructions

Moving gas in west London, not likely to get change out of £100 -150 depending on fitter - I personally avoid Gas board as they tend to be the dearest.
  • don,t put fridge not to boiler though, it won't work efficiently
