I'm surprised anyone has any issues with postcodes. We've a lot of new developments going up round here and the TV licensing letters have been sent out with out the properties even being built yet. So I'm guessing RM get the information as soon as the planning is verified.

Our house was built 10 years ago and delivery drivers still can't find it with satnav. I have to guide them in.

    same for us
worse as they used the old street names for an area that is now just a large area of grass
Sat Nav takes them there but theres no direct route to us
you then get a call from some poor sod in a field where his sat nav says we live

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but when new homes are built, how long does it take for their postcode to become recognisable e.g. show up on google maps
Our house still isn't on google maps after 7 years - postcode search finds it ok though.

We had no problems with mail arriving when we moved. Problem was with a lot of companies such as car and home insurance, gas, electric etc.. According to them our house didn't exist.

Is it possible to use a PO Box at your local sorting office for a while if you are worried about the postie not finding you?

it really wont be an issue
new builds are really no hassle from delivery(well apart from often some poor sod gets it added to their delivery)
If the mail gets to the DO then it has to be delivered.
only caveat to that would be if it was still an active building site

have had a couple of new build nightmares.
one where the developer put the wrong numbers on the doors.
people used those numbers and then they got swapped a few weeks later
an other where it was a complex of flats and houses with no signs or numbers at all
even with signs its a funny layout.without it was imossible!
