HI,
I am struggling with a slowly dying PC. Have a bunch of windows issues and the HDD is giving errors regularly. I am in the process of trying to fix windows, but am really struggling at the mo as win updates aren't working properly, installs aren't working properly and now FF keeps falling over. It is 6 years old running xp and has an AMD x64 processor.
I think I need to start looking for a new one... at the moment I only use it to watch vids and surf, would like to play a few driviing games but this will mean a decent gpu so will cost more money. Can anyone suggest some options of where to pick up a decent budget\mid range machine please? I have no idea of what I get for my money...
thanks
Rich

I have one for sale but sounds like a core2duo will do for you, and be cheap!0

What is your budget? Min-max you can spend on the box.0

look at ebuyer's offer system - good enough for most things, and you could add a graphics card later if you needed to..

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

I would rather choose this one http://www.ebuyer.com/267120-acer-predator-g5900-desktop-pt-sf3e2-071
or if you need something smaller then this http://www.lambda-tek.com/VISION-3D-137BB-ASRock-Vision-3D-137B-Mini-PC-Intel-Core-i3-370M-2-4GHz-4096MB-2x2GB-500GB-Blu-Ray-Combo-LAN-WLAN-nVidia-GeForce-GT425M-~cs/B540812&viewSpec=y#productTop
Bad things about them is: warranty which is usually 1 year, cheap parts.... I would recommend just buying custom one, since you can choose parts better quality and you get full warranty on every item.... Don't buy pc with old proc, buy some with i3 or i5.... Also you can buy motherboard that has integrated wifi, which is handy all the time...0 -
post more details of the issues and errors, along with a hijackthis log!!

where do I start?
Hardware
at the moment I am getting memory errors and HDD errors = these are happening more regularly - every couple of days for the memory and every couple of weeks for the HDD
Software
SP3 won't install various errors, FF keeps crashing - has been reinstalled but still not working. Adobe won't install - shockwave, flash or reader (initialisation error). Tried to install chrome but this won't work either - just won't run.
about at the end of my tether

not sure what you mean by memory and disk errors, specifically what message appears?
post a hijackthis log!!

Windows reboots and then takes you to page that says windows has brashed due to a memory error..
check disk goes off on a boot
what's a hijackthis log?0
