Is Post Office Basic Account Linked To Anyone?

Couldn't get a smile account so just wondered about the post office?

Are they linked to anyone?

I think they operate some alliance and leicester accounts but I am not absolutely sure, you might get more help with this on on the Banking board, I will move it over there.

If you want a co-operative bank account you could go for their cashminder account which won't have the same credit rating requirements as smile?

I thought the basic post office account was operated in house but could be wrong.

there is an up to date list of basic bank account providers and the services they offer here......

I don't believe the Post Office operate a basic bank account anymore. They allow you to service some accounts via Post Office branches, but they don't actually run an account service of their own.
  • The Post office account is for benefits only. You cannot pay in anything over the counter.
