Need ideas for a cheap menu for the week/ month. I find fruit, dairy products quite expensive or is this just me, but have childrens lunch boxes etc to make as well as there main meal in the evening.
any ideas welcomed.
Is life always a struggle ? it does seem that most days !!!!!

Is there a Lidl near you, their fruit when it's half price is great value.

Or, are there any markets, I find if you go later on in the day, they are selling stuff off. Some of it is in quantity, so if you could share with a neighbour it would be ideal.

I got some real bargains at Blackburn on Saturday.

    Yep, Blackburn in lancs.

As you are fairly local, I got....
    8 kiwis
    10 satsumas
    10 red peppers
    2 yellow melons
    1 water melon
    2 pineapples
    2 bags of grapes
    8 mangoes
    12 bananas
    10 tomatoes
    bag of sprouts
    box of field mushrooms
    30 plums.

This lot cost me £12.50

I have found a really nice butchers as well.
And I get my toilet rolls and kitchen rolls.

The car park is on the roof of the market and is quite reasonable and there is a lift. I go with my mum every few weeks and we buy some stuff and then take it to the car and keep going up and down in the lift like looneys.

We live about 35 minutes away, I'm in Blackpool, but it's worth a trip.

Bury market is good for fresh food too, lots of fish, meat and vegetables all in one place, not as close as Blackburn to Leyland but well worth a drive if you have some spare time. I am lucky I live between the two.

If you park in Morrisons in Blackburn, it costs £1 for 2 hours, which is refunded when you spend in store. If you're planning to do your whole weekly shop as well as go to the market you get free parking. Morrisons is just across the road from the market.
I use the butchers in the market (whittakers?? maybe) which as well as being excellent quality, also accept card payments so you don't need cash like most stalls.
