Our boiler went kaput a week ago friday, we got some plumbers in etc *oohhhhhhhh its gunna cost ya*.
We were told new boiler is required as its so old (20yrs).
My girlfriend found the British gas thing, that is £160 to fix 1 fault, if they cant fix it, there is no charge.
Thought about it and it seemed win win!
Guy came out last Friday, spend 30 minutes poking about, turns out the fan was jammed. He tried to grease it up, to fix it there and then, but couldn't. So ordered a new one and booked us in for Monday (today) morning.
Guys just been and gone, and im left with a fixed boiler for a small fee of £160! The part was £180 alone.
Just wanted to praise the service and speedy fix of the boiler. The guy was the nicest tradesman I've delt with too.
I thought BG would properly just say it cant be fixed it it cost over the £160, but he said with labour and diagnosing it would of cost £300 easy, i can agree with that too!
Thanks British Gas!
edit: 400th post, and its a happy one too!

The original plumber clearly was either incompetent or tryinng to rip you off for a couple of thousand quid."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

It was kinda my idea to get a quote for a new boiler in the first place. My parents own a flat in the same block, and when there's broke, they just bought a new one so they didnt have any problems (they were living in france, so would of been hard to sort out etc).maninthestreet wrote:The original plumber clearly was either incompetent or tryinng to rip you off for a couple of thousand quid.
I asked a plumber over to look at it, to see if it was simple to fix, he said no. I really didnt want to throw £500 to fix it for an other part to go in 6 months, hence the new boiler quotes.
But once this BG thing came, it made sense, as it was win win0
