Car Insurance - Credit Report Please Help Me... :(

Options
Hi

I currently been searching for Car Insurance, Im 22 Years Old coming on to 23, I have one years no claims and No points or tickets on my Name.

Ive noticed that my Car Insurance is so HIGH I have friends paying only £800 a Year, And When I do my quote on same car or car with a 1.0cc engine its coming out to £5,000 this is the same car company as my friend.

I just like to know whats happening ? Im going to file for a credit report and have a closer look Ive used confused website to do most of my car insurance searches to find that cheap quote.

At this rate I can never have a car :/ Im also working part time so I have money coming into my bank, I have no claims I pay all my bills on time.

What could it be ? Any Ideas.

  • The area, young male drivers under 25 are penalised. How long have you been driving, 1 years no claims is nothing, how long have you had a license. what type of car are you looking to insure, what's it's value. where will it be parked overnight, what will the car be used for business, pleasure, are you looking for fully comprehensive, what was the cheapest quote you got. How do you and your friend compare on these points.

I don't believe it's down to the credit report necessarily as you say nothing bad should be recorded worth checking though.

It could be your postcode- try doing a quote with all the same details but from a friend's address before you pay out for a credit report (obviously don't falsify your insurance though!). Insurance premiums can triple even if it's just the difference of a street away.

But you don't know where the other person lives - there is a massive difference between postcodes and the rating will depend on the individual insurer's claims for a particular area. So your statement of "definately something wrong" is rather misleading.

OP - go see a good local broker - try the usual cost cutting tips outlined in the insurance for young driver threads. Try a less attractive vehicle - hyundai getz/skoda/ volvo etc. Something seriously uncool will likely get you a better quote. If that doesn't suit the choice is pay up or walk!
