wedding2012
I am planning on getting married aug 2012 in the Republic of Ireland and will need to pay for the wedding in Euro, can someone please help me as to any indication of what the Euro is going to do against pounds sterling - I need to decide if it will end up costing me more in the long run with the cost of exchanging the money..
Thanks

I dont think anyone here has a crystal ball so you will just have to book what you want to book and stick to your budget. You could have a cheap wedding in Ireland or a very expensive one and it would have nothing to do with the euro, it will be down to what you choose.
My wedding was in US$. We booked about 18 months ahead and of course the $ could have gone up or down. We just booked things as we went along and luckily for us the exchange rate stayed at a pretty average rate the whole time. If you get married abroad its a risk you take and you can always alter your options if it did go in your favour or against.
If you are getting married next year then would you not be booking most things pretty soon anyway though?0 -
i live in northern ireland close to the border with the republic so thats why we had decided to go with it there, we would pay a deposit on the venue now but the balance at the time of the wedding, so I'm worried that between now and then things could change and it would end up costing alot more, as the guests are around the 250 mark

you can take the risk out of the decision now by converting into the required euro amount.
the only risk is if it goes up or down.
imho the pound should appreciate against the euro but it seems bad news in europe always brings out the "if its bad news for europe its bad for us too". and both currencies fall in value.0 -
If you are that worried you could offer to pay the whole lot now. But then you run the risk of it going the other way.
I think if you definitely want to get married at your venue then you just have to decide which is more important.0
