Apple address book help required

Last year I purchased a 4th gen ipod touch to replace my aging Palm Tungsten T2, however 13 months later Im still using my palm T2, on of the things I use the device for is for storing usernames/passwords in the address section, I don't really want to add an app , but what I would like and dissapointed that I cannot seem to find on the Apple is a way to enter address book entries via the PC keyboard other than using outlook (which I don't have) .
Any ideas?

Using Outlook would be the most straightforward way. I'm surprised you don't have Outlook though: isn't it always bundled with Office? I would suggest something along the lines of using Palm Desktop and another program to do the transferring, but I don't have a software suggestion in place of Outlook.
PS I clicked on your topic hoping to amuse myself by reading another Apple-hate thread. Sadly, I was disappointed. Can I suggest you change your title to reflect your problem, so your topic attracts members who may be more knowledgable than I, to help you find a solution?0 -

Thanks for replying, it was not an Apple hate thread, perhaps I purchsed the item thinking it would have replaced my T2, I have an in motion speaker system for it, so it may remain as solely a music player
It seemed odd that other devices allow input once a unit is docked to the PC, and was hoping someone who is well versed on the idevices may have known a way which I simply overlooked.0 -
What you need to do is upgrade to IOS 5, (allows wireless sync) signup on your iPod touch to the iCloud *que heavily ascending music* and this initiates the wireless sync of contacts (and calendars/photos/mail/etc etc) to outlook (unfortunately it's all done through outlook) and from outlook back to iPod touch.
You can however go down Google's route, But this is free and doesn't quite work the same way as iCloud (read: extra steps, and temperamental)
See Here for Google Sync0 -
Bluetooth keyboard? Then you can te directs onto the iPod0

You could download Dropbox, stick your usernames in a text file or any other document, and save the file in your Dropbox folder.
Dunno if that is too simple a solution for you, and you just want an opportunity to say "My Palm could do this 10 years ago....blah blah blah.Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -

As mentioned above, this is not an I hate Apple thread.
This is one way I use the address book on the palm.... at work we use lots of sytems with various passwords and usernames, so with the palm you can create custom fields
eg
application
username
password
the whole file can be seprate from the remainder of the address book, I'm asking can this be done on the ipod touch? the extra fields I found were still pre-named with no obvious way to change the field names. I'm asking so that I can get more use out of the device and this is where I'm hoping those well versed with the devices can assist
or if somebody can point me to a users forum where I can pose the question.0 -

ANSWER THE QESTION THEGOODMAN!
You are not a mind reader, I have a geniune query which I would like resolved, since I have Apple Symbian and android devices, then it is not a case of one is better than the other as mentioned, keep your tripe to your own thread, as when a question is put to you, you magically go very quiet.
The address fields is something I would genuinely like to use , is that a crime? For your record I don't think my android does that either0 -

If you just want to go on about how my 10 year old device is better that's up to you0 -

Let us assume I am a bit slow or very slow, hows about you posting the answer?
It would re-inforce how thick I am surely? And make you look good amongst you peers
Let us not forget how you started the thread you reffered to" What phone to go for iPhone 4s or android Thinking of changing the phone.
Which one is better the new iPhone or android such as htc or samsung.
Which one would you get?"
But whoa betide anybody that is not euphoric about the same thoughts you have. Do us a favour and give the answer if there is one :T0
