Help electric meter not worked since Dec! only just realized
Have spent the last year being really careful with our gas & electric usage and payments have dropped (gas & electric) with each bill, had a bill this week and they wanted to drop payments to £23 a month, thought that couldn't be right my money saving measures could not have been that good! Looked at my meter reading and it was the same as the last one, looked back and the readings hadn't changed for electric since December!
Rang Eon, despite the temptation to keep quiet, they are coming to change the meter on Friday and are then saying they will take a reading two weeks later and calculate for the last year.
Am annoyed with myself for not realising earlier, each time they have asked to drop the payments I have rung and asked them not to drop them as low as they had requested as always want to make sure I have enough to cover a cold winter so am in credit by £300, it truely never occured to me a meter can stop working, until this really low bill I thought all our hard work at low usage was paying off.
Has anybody else experienced this I have never heard of anyone having a meter stop working. You would have thought Eon might have thought it a bit strange our electric consuption dropped to nothing! Although I look at my bills when they come on-line and I hadn't noticed.
What have other people done if this has happened to them.

Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

Good on you for keeping your payments higher. At least you should not get too much of a shock. Computer systems often do not pick up on anomalies as it could be the house was vacant. You are right that you took your eye of the ball so I hope it all works out okay.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Surprised they've told you that the bill will be based on a two week period. Just don't use any non-essentials for two weeks and the bill for the 10 months will be low.:)0

Hi ragdoll
I'm sorry you've had a problem with your electricity meter. Unfortunately, they do stop from time to time.
Seems like all's on track to put this right. The agent you spoke to has arranged for the meter to be replaced and has advised correctly about how we'll estimate the charge for usage since the meter stopped.
Arfurrr is spot on. Make sure the revised bill is charged at the prices current at the time. There's no way you should be paying for electricity used last December at today's prices.
It looks as though you've probably already covered the extra usage by not reducing your monthly payments. However, just a quick heads up; if the revised bill does leave a balance, ask for this to be spread over a more manageable period of time. We'll be happy to do this.
Hope this is useful ragdoll. Give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so.
