Composite Door Frame Required

Hi,
In the very tight climate we are in at the moment, im trying to insulate and secure my house as good as possible while keeping to a strict budget. The current door is a very old wooden door, the frame/door itself seems to be rotting due to weathering over the years i presume. I couldn't afford to get a new door as I was getting quotes in excess of £1000+
I looked on eBays cheap bargain finder tool and found a Composite Front Door within a few mile which I won for £36. I have since been saving up for the labour costs to get it fitted.
Here is the door; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300586019940&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:1123#ht_500wt_1287
I messaged a local self employed handyman yesterday who replied stating "If you have just the composite door without the frame then i’m afraid, frankly speaking, you’re up !!!! creek without a paddle. Any door upvc or composite must have it’s frame with it, which will normally be supplied with whom you bought the door from"
I was under the impression that either a Universal frame would be used, or a wooden frame created to match the door. I haven't messaged any other companies yet, as I thought i would try get some advice off the professionals on here.
Thanks,

From what little i could see of it on ebay it's possible that it might be made by Global Doors
http://www.globaldoor.co.uk/
You would need to verify this, but if it is you could try contacting them with the sash size and ask if they could provide you with a frame to fit it.0 -
So is this the case, that the door itself doesn't have a frame pre-built onto it? Can I only get a frame direct from Globaldoor, or is there any other comanies that could make a frame upon knowing sash size etc.?Member #120 £2012 in 2012 - £297.74/£2012 14.79%

If they are standard butt hinges and fixed to the door edge (as on a conventional wooden door) then you should be able to fit it to an existing wooden door frame. Whether your door frame/opening is the correct size for the door you bought is another matter. If you ask a chippy round to look at it and give you a quote they will tell you if your frame is suitable for the door or if it can only be fitted to a specific frame.0

The door width at 774mm is not going to fit in a standerd 30 inch frame so you you would need to get a 33 inch frame loose and alter to fit.Other then that its not a big problem apart from you will need locking plates to suit the multi point locking. It will be a days work to fit this for a carpenter0
