Hi everyone. Could someone please help me with this problem have i have no idea what to do .
Im with TalkTalk for calls and broadband, Anyway i have problems with the internet so i decided to reset the router ( echolife Hg50b) to factory default settings. The internet was fine but the wireless light wasn't on, i decided to look inside the router (192.168.1.1) and in the wireless LAN settings the access point is disabled. I enabled it and also the SSID.
The internet and ADSL light went off , and the ADSL light just kept flashing ( waited) but kept the same. Restarted it again to factory default and came back on with out a problem.
Reset the router, tryed mostly everthing i can think off.
Any one know why whenever i try to enable the access point it turns the internet off?
p.s Im on windows xp, and running through a Ethernet cable.
Thank you

Just to show you the wireless page0 -
Because "Access Point" is not for wireless, it's for changing your router to become an access point rather than a router. When you do this, you create an access point which needs to be connected to the internet via alternative means. An access point is frequently used when there is a poor wifi signal to boost it.
Can you not see the HG520b SSID without turning it to enabled?0 -
Hi thanks for your reply, No i cannot see the SSID when i try to scan for it even thought its obviously enabled.
The access point, i would say actually enables the wireless to be active , hence thats why im not seeing the SSID?0 -
Can you post a screenshot (hiding any relevant details) of the Status page after you've enabled?
Also, if you enable, and connect to that SSID through a laptop, can you access the router home page?0 -
I currently dont have a laptop just a desktop computer. i use the wireless for my wireless mobile phone and to connect to the wii ect.Can you post a screenshot (hiding any relevant details) of the Status page after you've enabled? when ever i enable it the connection to the computer ( erthernet cable ) disconnects and the ADSL light just flashes and the internet light goes off

ok, so if you connect to the wifi with your phone (I assume a smartphone?) can you browse to the routers webpage using the phones browser?0

and the phone is definately connected to "wireless"?
If this is the case, it's something to do with the settings on that page being incorrect. Regardless of your internet connection, a laptop / phone / wii should still see and connect to the router.0 -
access point and wifi on/off should be different items in the menus....check you've got the right combo set........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple
