I have an Intel i3 system, with the intel graphics accelerator, whatever I do,It won't play Blue Ray,so,I am going to put a higher spec graphics card in,will I have to disable the on board graphics,or will it just recognize the new card and work alongside the on board one???Any help appreciated.
Error on title,it's an i3 system.

When a gfx card is installed, "most" boards will recognise that something is now present in the PCI slot. The sure way to tell is once it's installed and you have it connected to your TV, you'll either get a picture or you won't.
If not, put your display back to the onboard gfx port and boot to the BIOS. Look for a setting to change PCI/IGP or similar.
Out of interest, what makes you think your current board won't play blu ray? What happens when you try?0 -
I'd be very suprised if it was down to your onboard graphics card. i'd be more inclined to think it was either the blu ray player or softwareSmile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

I have a lite-on external Blu Ray,played perfectly with my old PC,used Power DVD Blu Ray edition and it won't play them, will play all other DVD's,tried with Media Player as well,no luck,it just will not play them.
The Blu Ray player is ok,I am sure it's the on board Intel Graphics accelerator which is not up to the job.Or,can anyone recommend software that WILL play my Blu Rays??Many Thanks.Kawasaki z750 Rider!0 -
External blu-ray? USB? I suspect the USB bus in the machine is just not fast enough to spin the data off the disk onto the screen, especially if DVD's all play OK0

Unless the player is also USB3, it makes no difference. And the different chipset implementing the USB may be slightly too slow in your new lappy?
Or maybe the playing software is a bit naff and needs an update? Just making guesses, sorry I can't help more!0
