Hi

In general, is it worth paying more to protect your NCD? My insurance company wanted an extra £19 to do so.

I'm not very sure what advantage there is in protecting it.

By protecting your policy your are guaranteeing your NCD will stay the same in the evet of a claim, most companies operate a so many lives in so many years, usually 2 claims in 5 years, go above that and they start to reduce your NCD.

Having protected NCD doesn't mean your renewal premium will stay the same, if you have an accident or other claim they can still increase your premium before NCD takes affect.

You can only do the sums yourself and decide, i have protected policy and have for over 30 years, wouldn't want to be without it.

Thanks G&S. Looking at other insurance providers, £19 seems quite cheap.

How many claims do they allow? Is it only protected with non fault claims?

Dont forget when you switch insurer its unlikely to make much difference.

So the £19.99 maybe one non fault claim on xmas day as long as your in bed with santa at the time and report the incident before it happens.


Better cover may cost you more.


Bit important that you find out what your paying for.

You can guarantee your No Claims Discount:
