Child tax credits decreased- Anyone else had this?

I hope someone can help. I WILL be ringing the tax office but hoped that I might get a bit of advice from the helpful people on here.
The child tax credits that I receive have recently reduced to £10 pounds a week from nearly £50.
I wondered if this was because of new policy or because the tax people have stopped it. Do the tax office automatically reduce the credits when children are post 16?
My circumstances are:
My son is 7 and in after school clubs
My twins have just started college (post -16)
Please be nice!

Yes they do, after the 31 Aug after they're 16, unless you phone and tell then they're carrying on in education. Give them a ring and tell them0 -
Thanks for that.
I had read that there were going to be changes if people were earning over a certain amount. I didn't want to have to sit and wait on the phone trying to get through if they were just going to say, 'No you earn too much!'
I have just found the paper work. I should have read it when they sent it to me.:o
There must be a lesson to be learned there.De cluttering Konvert.Getting there
