HELP with samsung gt-19000.....

hi thought i had my samsung galaxy gt-19000 stolen and went thru my supplier to have replacement etc. I have received replacement handset only to receive my old one back.........very shocked??!!! Since deciding to give this phone to my son i cannot get it to make or receive calls regardless of network simcard that is placed in phone (thought it was open to all networks) Is there any way of reactivating this phone without going back to my supplier.............any help/advice would be greatly appreciated as i am not exactly technology savvy - waste of money owning galaxy in first place as i only really use it 2 phone still trying to work out other menus in phone which my son can do no problem lol !!

If you reported it to your mobile phone company as stolen, the handset will have had its IMEI number blocked. It won't work on any UK network.

It's there as a security measure to stop stolen handsets being used/sold by theives, so no operator or handset manufacturer is going to make it easy to do.

For some makes/models I believe there are "backstreet" outfits which can do it, but I wouldn't want to go there, and TBH I've no idea where they would get a replacement valid IMEI from - but I'd guess you would end up with a clone of someone else's phone.

Might be worth asking on the Mobile Phones board here if you haven't yet.
