New Bankruptcy Board

Hi guys,
Martin would like to start a new Bankruptcy board and we're considering whether IVAs should be included in this. So if you think IVAs should be part of the Bankruptcy sub board please let me know by posting below. Or do you think Bankruptcy has its own specific issues and concerns and warrants a board of its own?
Thanks very much

Good Morning,
What a good Idea. I have had a supporters thread going for some time now, there is so much info and sao many pages on there that each topic needs its own thread now !
Adding IVA's and Scottish issues woiuld be great for it as they are related very closley and people who have insolvency knowlege would be able to educate us an all issues.
Thanks for this...
P.S could my supportes club thread be moved to it pleeeese...

I think they should be two separate boards as they are two different things.
By the way, any chance of Martin doing a slot on Tonight looking into IVAs as he did with loans?0 -

Mike
Mike it will be moved along with any other bankrupcy and related threads.
The thread is over 1000 posts now so it might be a good time to start a part 2 thread, we will sort it out once the new sub board is up and running.;)0 -
Would it be a sub forum of DFW or on its own?
walks away muttering - I can read I can read0 -
As you're planning a reshuffle would it be possible to consider a child forum for the debt diaries? Keep the main one for SOAs and straight forward questions and help?
Edited to answer the OP - Two separate ones for IVAs and bankruptcy.0 -

Hi Archna
I think it would be helpful, especially for new visitors to the site, to have a flow chart that would give a very summary indication of whether DMP, IVA or Bankruptcy is likely to be the most helpful route and have separate threads for the three options.
E.g. If a person / couple has debts below £20k, lots of equity in a house and a reasonable income then it’s probably going to be more appropriate for them to go straight to the DMP thread rather than spending time going through a number of threads and being confused about what their best course of action is likely to be.
I did spend some time working on a flow chart in Word but realised that I couldn’t copy & paste it onto a thread so didn’t finish it off.
I appreciate you can't have a "one size fits all" approach because everybody's circumstances are slightly different but I think it would help people to access the support they need more quickly.
Regards

I think people will bypass the DFW board and go straight for bankruptsy.Barclaycard 3800

i think it will detract from one of the greatest benefits of this board, that being the broad range of views , support and experiences that are available here.
it will confuse people seeking advice except for those that already 'know' the answer because they dont know which board to go to.
and many people will only read one board thus diluting the pool of good advice0 -
i think its agreat idea and it will help stop all the i could never go bankrupct gang going on at us about it beening the easy way out
iva and bankrupt together it they are both the same sort of thing and will help people decide whats best for them out the two and save people having to keep jumping around the boards betwwen iva and bankrupctyi cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing0 -
I don't know about a new board. Sometimes people come here thinking bankruptcy is their only option, once they post they realise there are many alternatives and they choose another route. I'm not suggesting for a minute my bankrupt friends would not give the newbies the best advice or try to sway them in favour of bankruptcy, it's just I think that if the newbies come and get to read other stories for themselves on the main debt free board it would be more helpful.
I know the bankruptcy threads often get a bit heated, but isn't it better that they get heated with the rest of the sensible DFWs around? Those threads will still get the same anti-bankruptcy stalkers but fewer of the rest of us will be around to offer alternative opinions.
Also I don't want you taking my bankrupt friends away!:rotfl: because they might not let me on their shiny new board.:A
