Car Insurance - Claim or not?

Options
Someone dented the bonnet of our car in the station car park but we didn't spot it immediately and are not sure on which day it happened (it's quite a subtle dent). It must have been there though because the only other place we've left it is on the drive and the bonnet faces the house.

We've put the car into our local service centre for a different problem during this week and asked them to quote for the bonnet repair at the same time. The quote is for £530.

Our excess for our car insurance policy is £100.

Question is: Should we claim or not? i.e. Do you think that, as a result of the claim, our insurance will go up so much over the coming years that we'll be worse off?

Appreicate any insights/experience people may have.

Thanks,
Penny

IMO and IME there's a good chance you will pay more than £430 through increased premiums.

Give ChipsAway a call and ask them to quote. If it's a dent that doesn't need repainting or has creases then they will probably be cheaper. I've used them before and was happy with the outcome. They're a franchise so YMMV.
