freezing screensaver

Hi all,a little unusual problem which someone may have an answer to.Often when I dont use the computer for a few minutes the screensaver comes up,but then when trying to use it again by moving the mouse the screensaver wont go off for about a minute then when it does instead of going straight to the homepage the homepage appears very slowly like a waterfall from the top of the screen down.any ideas? thanks.

update your video card driver, and try a different screensaver
