I saw a display unit I really liked in MFI before christmas - I have the webpage printed out sitting in front of me....I saw it on the 18/11/2006 and it was £399.20 but because of Christmas coming up, I decided to leave it. I looked once over the sale period and it was not included in their sale.....I have just looked at it today on this page

and the price is now
£530.40!!!How can they justify this amount of change in the price when the item wasn't even in the sale???!!!

Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

Why should they have to justify a price?0 -
I am not asking them to justify the price...just the difference in price between November to now when the item wasn't even in a sale to start with?Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

they don't have to justfy a price but the law says:
"There are also rules about special-offer and sale prices. For example, if a shop advertises that a product has been reduced in price, it must normally have offered the goods at the old price (and in that branch, if the shop is part of a chain) for at least 28 days in a row in the last six months. If it hasn’t, it must make this clear to shoppers. Also, price-comparisons should always be with a genuine selling price, not a specially-inflated one that would exaggerate the savings."Baby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -
I would just look for it elsewhere.
It will either be cheaper or the same. If it's the same then the christmas price was obviously good. It's it's cheaper buy it from somewhere else. There's no point in wasting time wondering how a companies pricing system works.0 -
All companies that have a sale on throughout most of the year, or different sales like MFI do, have to have what is known as a 'price establishment' period.
There is absolutely nothing to stop them from offering free fitting or free appliances or whatever, this is why big firms can survive.0 -
I am ressurecting this because the item is now....wait for it......£1248!!! they are taking the pish now!!! I know shops can do what they want with prices but this just takes the biscuit!!!!Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

I was in MFI today and was told by a nice sales assistant not to buy the bedroom furniture I was interested in as the sale will be starting on 29th March and most things are reduced then.
Perhaps they are raising prices on some items so they can then appear cheaper in the sale?0
