Cheapest way to heat your house?

Is it cheaper to put your heating on a low heat continuously throughout the day or to use the timer and have the heating come on for 3 short bursts during the day:)

    Welcome to the forum.
That is rather like asking which gets me from London to Glasgow quicker, driving continuously at a slow steady pace, or going flat out in 3 bursts with long stops between bursts.

If we know the distance from London to Glasgow, the speed of the slow steady pace, the speed of the flat out bursts, the length of the flat out bursts, and the length of the stops; then we can give you an answer.

Similarly if we know the temperature of low heat, the temperature and length of the 3 bursts of heat, the type of heater and the efficiency of the boiler(if oil or gas)With that lot, and knowing the insulation properties of your house; then we can give you an answer!

In other words there are far too many unknowns for anyone to give a meaningful answer.

I use my thermostat manually. I'm sure it saves me from getting a larger bill.
