Have reccently had a new boiler installed.
Service fine regarding fitting.
Paid on day by cheque.
Have just recieved letter telling me that they have lost cheque and I must cancel it.
I know I have to pay for services redered, but any suggestions as to how I can ask for costs of stopping cheque and how I can go about it.
Any one else have any thing similar or any email addresses that I could use to contact.
Main phone number no use as offices are closed.
Thanks.

Phone your bank and explain what happened. Banks will often cancel a lost cheque for no charge as it is a security issue.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Stop the cheque and find out from your bank what the charge is.
Send a new cheque for the amount owed less the cost of stopping the original cheque. Enclose a letter stating how you arrived at the adjusted total and ask for a written receipt that the bill is settled in full.
You could always phone them first saying that is what you intend to do and see what their reaction is. Phone calls are not that good though as you normally have no record of the conversation.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
