EON bills in credit

Hi everyone,
I've done a quick search but couldn't find anyone who has had this precise problem.
I've just moved into a new flatshare, where they have EON electricity and it is not in anyone's name (just to the occupier). I have no idea why they didn't just put someone's name on it, but anyway. Someone who has just moved out submitted a false meter reading, meaning they all got a massive bill, which they then paid. Subsequently, our landlord submitted the correct meter reading when I moved in and EON say we are now:
£367 in credit
However, my flatmate, the bright spark that he is, decided to phone EON and switch the electricity over into his name instead of just using up the credit we had. Obviously they then sent us a final statement with the £367 cr showing up, but now say we have no way of getting a refund because the account was an occupier account and not a named direct debit.
This obviously has nothing to do with me because I had no part in paying the original bill, but it does seem incredibly unfair that EON are now £367 the richer and there is nothing we can do. Or is there?
Any tips would be gratefully received, I hate seeing greedy companies get even richer by ripping consumers off....
Thanks!

Hi claire0412
The problem here does lie with the original account (that’s now in credit) being under The Occupier. We've no right to hang on to the credit, trouble is, we don’t know who to send the refund to either.
To get it sorted you just need to get your landlord or one of your housemates to send in a copy of their tenancy agreement that covers this period. This way we’ll put the account in their name and issue the refund, or if you all prefer simply transfer it over to the new account for your address.
It sounds like the person that moved out is due some money back, you’ll need to work this out amongst yourselves of course, but for future reference always make sure that we have the names of the bill payers and accurate meter readings on record and things will run much more smoothly.
Hope you get it sorted Claire, if I can help with anything else just give us a nudge.
