Payment for low income

I have heard about a £120 payment by companys for people on low income so i contacted my supplier which i was told to do and my supplier scottish power said i dont need to do anything they contact the DHS to find out what benefit i am on and they will then pay it if i am entitled to it yet that was not what they said on the Tv i feel they are just trying to palm people off any advice please.

    Told by who? What is the DHS? Most people claim benefits from the DWP. You need to know the name of the benefit before you call. Was it the Winter Fuel payment or maybe a Cold Weather payment? Maybe they were talking about Social tariffs.

    I got that wrong its the DWP now it used to be DHS It the warm home discount scheme and its been on the news in the last few days.

    Check out the threads on here for Warm Home discount. Scottish Power have not published their criteria as yet so their staff will not know about it. The only people tthe DWP will be telling suppliers about is those on Guaranteed Pension credit - not any of the others.

    The Warm Home discount wont come into effect I believe until earlier next year. Your best asking your supply if you fit the criteria, but if is said as above they haven't published it yet, then leave it a few weeks then ring.
