£77 difference in Ukpower site estimate and BG bill

Base Rate 1 = 1190.00 kWh at 4.959 pence per kWh 59.01
Base Rate 2 = 5052.11 kWh at 2.801 pence per kWh 141.51
Charge for Gas used £200.52
VAT at 5.00 % £10.02
Total cost of Gas used £210.54

area is southern, and bill paid by quarterly cheque
So I guess you can't believe these comparison sites

Wow, that is a big difference. I checked the comparison section and found it is more accurate though, only a pound out. Maybe the bill calcuator section is designed to over-estimate to encourage people to switch!
It might be worth emailing them with your findings, there is obviously something wrong on the calculator and it could cause difficulties for a pensioner or someone on a low income who used it and thought they were going to get a much higher bill than they could afford.0 -

Don't really see why as that part of the site is supposed to be a bill checker.
It is using the same rates as used on BG bill and asks for dates that usage was between. There are no other discounts (eg DD, duel fuel) to take into account.
I would however put a years worth of usage figures in if looking to switch.0
