Cat with constant Diarrhea

This is going to be a bit of a long post as i try to explain the circumstances but please bear with me
Up until a couple of years ago i had 5 cats, now i only have one.
They have all passed away through old age or illness
I had 2 brothers that were part Abysinian. A couple of years ago one of them started getting really bad diarrhea. We went through months of vets visits, doing blood samples, poo samples, trying different antibiotics etc.
They suggested a food allergy so tried many different foods, also probiotic/prebiotic additives etc. Nothing seemed to improve the situation. He got severly dehydrated on a couple of occasions and had to be kept in on a drip for a couple of days at a time. He was also losing weight all the time.
In the end we had him operated on and they found a large lump in his intestines which turned out to be Lymphoma. The vet removed the worst of it and stiched him back up but by then it was too late really. We ended up having him pts a few weeks later
Fast forward 18 months and we are in the same position with his brother ( our last remaining cat)
For a few months now he has had diarrhea. Some days worst than others but always soft poo. Been through all the same blood tests, poo samples, different antibiotics, different food, pro/prebiotics with no real improvements.
He has not got to the same stage as his brother yet (needing to be on a drip) but has lost some weight. He doesnt seem too unwell in himself though. But he went through a bad stage earlier in the year when we lost our next to last cat. He was left as the only cat and i think that affected him for a while as he was used to a multi cat household.
He has been on another course of antibiotics a couple of weeks ago but the only thing that did was to stop his poo smelling, other than that no change.
Yesterday i have taken another poo sample to the vets but really dont expect to get anything from that as nothing has showed up before.
The only other thing now is to go for an op to have him opened up and see if they can find anything
Basically i'm just posting incase anyone knows any miracle cures. Long shot i know but worth a try

I am sorry to hear this, Wesker. I think you are doing exactly the right thing by regular vet checks.
The one thing I would ask is have you had puss checked for TF? This is a parasite that can live in cats and cause diarrhoea, but is not routinely checked for by vets. It involves taking not just one sample, but a number of them over a few days.
I am only aware of it as I have two Bengals and they are susceptible to diarrhoea and this is something that is often discussed on the Bengal cat forums that I look at now and again.
I wish you and puss all the best x0 -

Thanks for the replies
Not heard of TF but after a quick google came up with Tritrichomonas foetus ?
http://fabcats.org/breeders/infosheets/tritrichomonas.html
Will mention it next week when i get the results of the recent poo sample.
I know they have been checking for worms (he is wormed and de-flead regularly) but not heard this mentioned.
I remember they did one test on his brother that had to be sent to America because they havent got the facilities to test for it in this country. I will ask about this when i next speak to them.Errrr...come back later

Yes, it is those two long words you quoted.
Worth a try, even if it just rules it out
